I only have a spare old laptop running linux so I was curious to see how far i could get with Citadel.

I converted the img file to vdi and loaded that into a ubuntu virtualbox easily. The virtual machine for this does start, but I am left with a blinking dash line and nothing else, which is not to be unexpected.

I'd appreciate an option for Citadel to be hosted by a virtual machine one day. thank you.

I think what you needed was this install method:

Once you install Ubuntu 21.10 64-bit in your VboxVM, you can combine most of the "apt install x" commands into "apt install x y z" to have less steps.
